Have you made your summer bucket list?!

It's officially the first day of summer break!

Have you made your summer bucket list?!

Summer break around here is a big deal.  It means that for a few months, we play more, have more free time to do as we choose and more time together as a family.

In the past I've always planned out summer camps, vacation time, day-trips etc. now that the kids are almost 12 and 10, they are able to decide how they want to spend their time and what they'd like to do.

So a few weeks ago, I asked the kids and hubby to write out a Summer Bucket List for 2013!

I encouraged them to just write down some things that they'd like to do this summer, places they wanted to go and how they'd like to spend their time.

I was surprised at what each of them wrote!

I was then forced to sit down and decide what I wanted to do this summer.

IMG_7361What I realized was that I spend a lot of time setting goals for myself and working towards those goals throughout the year.  Challenging myself is something that I've always done and that has been a huge part of 2012/2013 it seems! But what I envision for this summer was that I really just want to BE {seems lame maybe}.  What I want to do is follow the family's lead and enjoy being a part of someone else's plans.

Sure I wrote down a few things on my own summer bucket list, but nothing that was overly challenging in any way.

This summer is about re-grouping, enjoying time with people and visiting new places.  That's the theme for this summer for me.

What's on your summer bucket list?!

I'd love to hear what you've planned, or perhaps, plan not to do!

P.S. {I guess I have one challenging item on my list this summer! To complete my 30 Day SketchBook Challenge! Keep me accountable and check back here daily! Join me on the challenge! Use (hashtag) #30daysketchbookchallenge to tag pages from your sketchbook!}
