I broke up with Wordpress and am crushing on Squarespace.

As you can see, I've been busy making some changes here on l.id.!

I couldn't be happier with how everything looks and feels now.  I hope you enjoy browsing through all the pages and new products too!

I'd love to hear what you think!

For those who are looking for a snazzy new site, or just want a user friendly, easy to update website, keep reading!

I previously build l.i.d. using a Wordpress template and lots of customization.  I'm not a website pro, but through some video courses, trial and error and the help of my techie husband, I managed to create a site that was in my opinion good enough.

It never ever felt like "me" but it was ok. Until recently...

My website needed to do a lot - I found it hard to create a design that could function as a website, an online shop, host my portfolio and allow me to blog and still look good.

Then I did some research and found Squarespace.

After looking at reviews, reading other blog posts and lots of discussions with my techie guy, I decided it was time to break-up with Wordpress and start a new love affair with Squarespace.

All it took was a full week of uploading, editing, and messing around.

I loooove my site now.  I think it provides me with most of what was on my dream list and building it was a lot easier than I thought.  It didn't hurt to have my own team to help via "chat mode" on their site.

Here are my pros and cons to Wordpress vs. SquareSpace

Wordpress Pro

You own all your content and website.  Even if one dark day, Wordpress goes out of business and shuts down, you will still be up and running.

Squarespace Con

You don't own your site, and you can't back-up your entire site, so you are at the mercy of Squarespace. Please don't ever shut-down Squarespace!

Wordpress Con

In order to fully customize and have your site be multi-functional, you need to know coding or hire someone who can customize it for you.

Squarespace Pro

You can flip between templates easily to test out which one works best for your needs. Customization is easy.  There are also lots of videos, and instructions on how to customize easily on their site.

Wordpress Con

There isn't a team waiting via chat to help answer every question.

Squarespace Pro

A team of techies at your fingertips!! [ great for when your techie husband is not available to help you]

Wordpress Pro

Free - unless you buy templates etc.

Squarespace Con

There's a monthly fee.  But I truly believe that you get what you pay for.

Squarespace Pro

I can edit all photos quite easily with their photo editor.  Photos are a big part of what makes my site.

Squarespace Pro

I love the clean, modern look and design of all of their templates.

Squarespace Pro

My site is multi-functional and looks fab!!

There are many more pros and cons on my list, but these were the biggies that I needed to consider.

All-in-all, I couldn't be happier!

I hope my post about why I broke up with Wordpress and crushing on Squarespace helps you with your site!!
