I'm teaching my very first online calligraphy class

When I started life i design just over 5 years ago, I had an idea about what I wanted to do for a new career/business, I just had no idea what I was doing

I knew I wanted to make art, sell art, and live a life that suited my personality and passions.  I just didn't know who I was as an artist, how to start a website, how to open an online shop or how to create graphics and take photos to help sell my art.

I took a few in person and online classes from independent instructors and through lots of trial and error, I found my way as an artist and as a creative entrepreneur.  I haven't stopped learning actually.  I take online classes often, sometimes weekly when I have time.

A few years back, I discovered Skillshare.  Skillshare is a site where you can learn just about anything that has to do with art, creativity, business and design.  It's where I started my journey learning how to navigate Adobe illustrator and create vectors out of my art.  It's where I learned about calligraphy and what tools I needed to become successful at it.  Skillshare is where I explored watercolor and learned how to navigate Instagram.

Because of the very generous teachers on Skillshare, and varied topics, I've been able to build my creative business and work from home as I take care of my busy family while being able to be my own boss. I have much admiration and gratitude for all the teachers and courses I've taken (some I've watched over and over again!)

Now the tables have turned.

If you have been following me for a while, you’ll know that I’ve been teaching modern calligraphy workshops all over my local area.  I have a goal to create online classes for those who can’t take an in-person workshop and who want to learn my style of Modern Calligraphy with me.  I am taking the plunge and am teaching my very first online calligraphy class!!! .

I feel like I have so much to teach and share with having built this little online business of mine.  So I am giving back to the Skillshare community by publishing my classes on their platform and am excited to be nearing the finish line with creating my very first class!! (it’s been a huge learning curve!!)

I am grateful and excited to have my Modern Calligraphy class featured on Skillshare’s blog as one of the new up-coming classes to be launched!! High fives!! Check out the feature along with the other new teachers they are highlighting, as we work towards our first classes!!

Now the pressure is really on to finish.

I am brainstorming ideas for classes as I type this, but I feel like this is the beginning of a larger goal of mine... to help those looking to learn something new and possibly starting a side hustle, or a creative business that they can grow and thrive with.

Check back at the end of the month as I pop a bottle of bubbles to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter for me here on life i design!!
