3 Projects to Help Artists Paint More: Watercolor Made Simple Book

Wanting to start a new skill is daunting. It's overwhelming with all of the free and even costly online tutorials, courses, and blog posts. When I started painting, I used what I could. I gathered more tools than I needed, took classes both online and in person, and watched a ton of YouTube tutorials.

As I went through the information available, I slowly found what worked for my painting practice. But I know that not every artist learns the same, which is why I wrote my newest book Watercolor Made Simple. I created a book full of resources, techniques, projects, and tutorials to help get you started.

Here are 5 projects you can find inside the book to help you on your artistic journey.

Traceable Motifs

I am a huge fan of traceable motifs and even have two books that are dedicated to this! The idea behind these is to be able to skip the sketching and get straight to painting. Too many artists worry about getting the perfect sketch before even adding paint to paper. The goal is to improve your painting skills, not to get caught up in the details. These motifs are designed to be traced onto watercolor paper for fun and easy things to paint. It also stops the constant question, “What will should I paint today?”

Technique Videos

Inside the book, you’ll find QR codes leading to video tutorials. I embedded these into the first section of the book to help guide you even more. A lot of the time, reading and seeing a technique used is very different. This gives you both options right in the palm of your hand. You'll gain access to a tutorial with every technique discussed in the book.

Papercraft projects

Being an artist doesn’t mean you have to stick to one medium. I like to dabble in paper crafts, which helps me practice my creativity and get inspired for more projects. Inside the book, you’ll enjoy some paper craft projects that I think will help you expand your creative skills and use some of your new beautiful artwork that you’ll paint with me in the book.

With these projects, you’ll dive deep into the world of watercolor art and hopefully gain useful knowledge and skills.

This book is meant to be a textbook of resources to further your artistic journey. Follow along on Instagram to see more of my watercolor projects and tutorials, and make sure to tag me if you order Watercolor Made Simple. I’ve been busy signing book plates for all the pre-orders we’ve been getting.
