#the100dayproject - I'm in!

I've witnessed people doing #the100dayproject for a few years now.  I've always admired their dedication and consistency as well as their growth throughout the 100 days.  I'm a bit of a commit-aphobic myself.  I am competitive (with myself mostly) and am private with my personal goals.  100 days is a long time when you think about it.

For those reasons, I've never participated in #the100dayproject.  Until this year!!

#the100dayproject where you commit to doing something creative for 100 days starting on April 3rd, 2018!

I had the pleasure of meeting Meagan Maher of @thecontemporarycatlady a few times last month at my Waterbrush Lettering Workshop with Scrapbook and Cards Today's Crop and Create event and then at my Creative Journalling Workshop where we really had time to connect and share creative inspiration.

Meagan shared her goal of writing her first novel and is using her journal to organize and document her novel writing.  Have a look at her inspirational and creative journal layouts.

@thecontemporarycatlady's creative journal layout to help her during #the100dayproject while she writes her first novel.

A beautiful and inspiring way to organize and brainstorm her novel writing.

Meagan also went on to share how she's dedicated to writing her novel during this year's 5th annual #the100dayproject.  I was so inspired by her goa,l and her, quite frankly that it took me all of a day to decide to join the challenge this year.

Because I have so many things to do on my "Creative Bucket List", I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for my personal #the100dayproject.  I knew I needed it to be easy to execute daily, not require a lot of time or tools and something that I could do for fun, but I wanted to tick a box off my bucket list too.

My #the100dayproject goal is to spend time over the 100 days exploring photography and capturing interesting subjects using my Canon Rebel and mastering shooting in manual mode.

I have been passionate about photography for a few years now.  I'm a closet photographer and enjoy styling and entering my photos in online challenges.  A few years ago, for a fun side-project, I started creating styled stock photos for small business [more on that another day].  I studied photography in College when I took my art program and even developed my own negatives in a dark room.  Yes, that was very long ago!

So for my #the100dayproject challenge, my goal is to just have fun with learning how to better use my camera.   I want to play around more with focus and bokeh, take more photos of my family so I have new photos for our gallery wall, and have more confidence shooting in manual mode.

If you are curious to learn more about the project, visit the original creators here and be sure to join their newsletter to be notified and inspired!

I'll be using my Canon Rebel and new shiny lense as I have fun working on my photography skills during this year's #the100dayproject
