My Updated Watercolor Kit For 2025
Every year I love to reorganize and clean out my art studio! If you’re like me you probably have invested a lot of money into art supplies... It’s easy to buy new things you see online, or while in the stores, but sometimes when you have too much you only end up using a few of your favorites.
I like to compare this to sweaters and hoodies. I love a good sweater but I have a lot and end up just re-wearing my two or three favorites while the others just hang in my closet, which is why I always like to do updated lists and videos showing the current art supplies I recommend. This is what I’m using and loving the most!
Keep this kit in mind when planning your travel plans! If traveling more is on your bucket list, I’d love to see you on my next watercolor art retreat!
Most Recommended Paper
Paper is important when it comes to watercolor, but instead of just buying some loose pieces of paper I will always, always recommend a pad. It helps when you’re practicing brush strokes, color mixing, and more. Winsor and Newton have some great ones, and my favorites include anything that has a mix of pulp and cotton.
New Color Palettes
If you’ve taken any of my classes or been around for a while you know I love to work with ceramic palettes or even porcelain plates, but when I was at my local art supply store recently the owner recommended a new plastic palette for me. I wasn’t convinced at first, but after using it for a while I’m a fan. The amount of wells it has makes it perfect for color mixing and the lid provides an additional surface for color mixing. One of my favorite things about it is the lid because it helps make the whole thing portable.
There are so many more supplies I’ve been using and loving lately. I think as we grow and develop as artists our tastes in supplies change and we have to be able to adapt to that. If you want more projects and want to continue learning and growing as an artist make sure to check out my Watercolor Made Simple book or any of my classes.
