Benefits of Surrounding Yourself with Art

Have you ever walked around your space and felt like something was off? Or maybe it feels like your space no longer speaks to your personality? Art and decor that speak to who you are and inspire you throughout the day can benefit your mental health and well-being. It can start your day off right and evoke positive emotions that support a positive mindset. When your space reflects the things you love, you’re more likely to be in a good mood and improve self-esteem, and they have shown that it can also improve concentration.

Creating art has many benefits, but did you know that surrounding yourself with artwork is just as beneficial? Here’s a complete list of why you should surround yourself with art!

  • Heighten your mood

  • Add meaning to a space

  • Reduce stress

  • Increase overall wellbeing

  • Express yourself

“Looking at paintings has been found to cause a similar pattern of brain activity as other pleasurable experiences,” states this Discover article.

Think about going to an art museum and being surrounded by art and how you feel when you’re walking around. Moving closer to a piece to look at the details, the textures, the colors. When you leave, you feel inspired and motivated for whatever else is next in your day. You can create these same feelings by adding art to your home.

My studio is filled with artwork because that’s where I create them, but others are carefully curated throughout my home. I want to surround myself and my family with art that reminds us of travels we experienced together and pieces that complement a room to make it feel brighter or create a more inviting presence.

There are many other benefits to surrounding yourself with art, but these are just a few. I find that when I’m around artwork, I am in a better mood overall. Whether that’s my own or other artwork. I feel more creative and excited for the day!

If you want to reap the benefits of having art around you all the time, add some from your own collection around your space. Look for art pieces you love while traveling or support local artists around your city.

Looking to find some unique pieces for your space, I’ve just released a collection of one-of-a-kind landscape pieces I am so proud of. Some of my recent travels inspire these, and I’d love to see them in your space.
